Years ago, when Patrick and I first became friends, we had a phone conversation in which I gave him complete license to manipulate me. "You enjoy this sort of thing," I said. "We two can be said to truly appreciate the artform. Try to hack my brain; use me in your social experiments. I think we'll both find it incredibly fulfilling, assuming you can handle it, because I'm one of the rare people who can give you feedback without resorting to name-calling."

I don't know whether Patrick remembers that conversation; either way, it's very funny.
