Tonight, the moon was as huge as I've ever seen it. Giant and yellow and low in the sky at two in the morning. You always imagine these these things with the moon in full, or maybe a crescent, but this was a half moon, just slightly too round to be first quarter. It was incredible, not like the moon I know so well; the craters had different patterns, different deliniation. And I spend a lot of time moongazing; I come from a family of lunatics.

Whrrrrrrrrrrrgh
Jul. 20th, 2002 02:14 pmI'm taking a break from landscaping, as I have been standing in the midsummer Texas sun for the past two hours (albeit swathed in shade, several layers of sunblock, sunglasses, and a hat wider than my shoulders). It's not that I don't like laying grass, it's just that I'd much rather do it at night. Now I'm all dizzy and sick to my stomach. Gotta say that after all is said and done, I'm giving a big thumbs down to sunstroke. I mean, it's got these exciting flashy lights, but it's all glitz; underneath, you just feel empty and kind of nauseated.
I think I'll just go curl up under a rock and die.
