So very tired. Am not meant to sleep during the night. Is unnatural. I've been spending the past couple of weeks trying to get on a "normal" sleep schedule, as The Parents are coming into town and I figure I should do them the courtesy of being awake when they are. This attempting to be diurnal has brought my insomnia back in full force, even though I've been easing into it, and the only real sleep I've managed has been cat naps during the day (when, of course, it makes sense to sleep).

For all the inconvenience that comes with nightwalking - grocery stores closed, restraunts closed, museums closed, parks closed - it really does suit my work schedule. Wake up around five, eat dinner, spend a couple of hours excercizing, reading, gaming, etc., go find friends and harrass them until around two, then go home and write until I'm tired. On a "normal" schedule, I get no work done whatsoever; it feels like I'm just killing time until people get home. Besides, and I think this is an important point, I'm writing a book called Insomniac's Guide to Dallas. How can I write such a thing DURING THE DAY?

I hate this so much. I can't wait until September, when I can resume a sleep pattern that lets me feel human.

Well, as stated, The Parents are coming into town in about a week, and they'll be around for about two weeks, carrying us to August 12th. After that is the road trip, which will also probably take place during the day, for ease of driving. By September, I should be back in Dallas and everyone else should have left town. Admittedly, the boy then starts school again, but if we work things right we'll be able to adopt a bi-modal sleep pattern at the very least, sleeping between noon and six or so, and napping sometime around three AM.
