[note the punctuation in the form of a hyphen which indicates that "pseudo-wedding" is an adjective modifying "invitation," as opposed to "pseudo" modifying "wedding invitation".]

You are invited to celebrate the marriage of Romie Stott and Patrick Dempsey at seven o’clock the evening of Saturday, August 9th at:

309 Fall Creek
Richardson, TX 75080
(Patrick’s parents’ house).

As you probably know, Romie and Patrick are actually already married; they held a very small ceremony last October. When I say small, I mean it was so exclusive that the bride’s parents couldn’t attend, nor could her two oldest friends. (This was really their own faults for being out of the country or someplace silly like Boston, but they still moped about it incessantly.) In the end, the wedding was performed with a promise: a promise that once everybody was free to travel, there would be a big party.

This is the big party. Think of it as a cross between a nine-and-a-half-month anniversary and a wedding reception that was really delayed.

The dress is casual, (unless you feel more comfortable in costume or a ballgown); weather permitting, much of the revelry will be outdoors. Bring a picnic blanket if you’d like, and some bug spray. Gifts are not requested, (although we’ll certainly accept them if they are brought; we’re not crazy after all.) What we would really appreciate is a sample of your favorite homemade dish along with appropriate serving utensils and a copy of the recipe – a party is only as good as its food, (which to us means pot luck,) and the recipes will enable us to have dinner with our friends year round.

If cooking isn’t your forte, (or if you’re simply multitalented like most of our favorite people,) we’d love to see what else you can do. There will be an open mic, an electric piano, and doubtless a couple of guitars floating around. Jump in and perform something, whether it’s a toast, a poem, or a song. It can be about the wedding; it can be about marriage in general. It can have nothing at all to do with either of those and just be particularly funny or beautiful. We might have somebody doing a hoola hoop routine; one can never tell.

So please, join us. We can almost guarantee you’ll have a good time.

How many do I need to cook for and do you have any requests as to what I should bring?

Love y'all,
Delia

I have no idea how many people you need to cook for. It's kind of up to you. I'm good with whatever you'd like to bring, but Patrick may have ideas of his own. Crazy Patrick, having ideas and all. ::shakes head::
