I've mentioned that I've been doing calisthenics (weight lifting, but using my own body as the weight) for about 7 months now, during which time I've probably put on around 4 pounds of muscle but am approimately the same size.

Except.

I'm not actually the same size. I'm about the same size around and am about the same amount tall, except not in a practical sense because I'm standing up straight and sitting up straight instead of slouching, which makes me an inch or two taller. But also, my shoulders are an inch higher. They're not an inch bigger, but they go out from my neck, like a horizon line, instead of sloping down and forward, and they are an inch further away from the ground as a result of doing that.

It makes it more comfortable to carry heavy backpacks full of books, which used to be a bit painful and now isn't, so that's good.

However it also, and I wasn't anticipating this - as a result of standing taller and having my shoulders up, a particular minidress I own is effectively three inches shorter. It is the same length, but it ends three inches higher on my leg, barely past my underpants.

Nobody warns you about these things.
