It is bitterly cold in Massachusetts this week and I have had to move my lime tree indoors so it doesn't drop its leaves. And I have had to wear long underwear, and long underwear gives me a stomach ache because of the way the elastic cuts across my stomach. And some small animal is trying to avoid the cold by breaking into my office via the attic, and last night it made a lot of noise that woke me up and I chased it off, and it tried unsuccesfully to drag off my emergency desk chocolate bar (for when I can't leave my desk and it is lunchtime), and it shat all over my desk and around my desk.

I contiue to not see the point of latitudes further north than 40°.

That's just unreasonable. How is the lime tree doing?

It's doing pretty well! It hasn't grown at all over the winter (it's been dormant) but it hasn't dropped its leaves either, which I consider a huge victory. When I got it about a year ago, it was a 6-inch twig with two leaves on, and now it's about 18 inches tall and full of foliage. That's average growth for a citrus, as I understand it, but I feel proud about achieving average in a climate that is not ideal for citrus. It'll probably be another four years before it fruits, if it ever does. At present, I'm mainly trying to make sure the trunk (which is at this point about 2/3 the diameter of my pinky and still green) grows straight instead of bending over.
