I am not paranoid.

It's important that you understand that, given my family's mental history and the heredity of such things. Very important. I am only a hypochondriac when it aids me in skipping classes, and I don't actually believe in the conspiracies I see everywhere. Even when I manage to persuade everyone else that they're real.

That said, someone is out to get me, and I have no idea who. But it's someone who is very good with a computer. Or a group of someones.

As I may or may not have mentioned, my ATM card has not worked for the past month. When I explain this to the bank, they tell me that I don't have an ATM card -- I do not, in fact, exist -- despite all of the paperwork I have to the contrary. Faced with this evidence, the customer service people become very puzzled. They've tried issuing me new cards, temporary cards, changing the PIN, renaming the account, switching the tax ID, calling their higher-ups. . . No.

This would be exceptionally irritating in any situation, but it becomes more dire when you realize that my Discover card is frozen too, which happened on the same day as the ATM card conked out. Scans reveal that my account is overdrawn, although when I talk to Discover they say it isn't. I'm forced to fall back on the Mastercard I keep around for extreme emergencies, and I have no idea what the credit limit is.

It doesn't end there. I've been innudated with demands from debt collectors for things I never purchased. Blockbuster movies I've never heard of. I've had to make a half-dozen phone calls to get it all cleared up.

Of course, the phone is in my name too, (thank God the power is in Valancy's,) and so I'm constantly badgered by AT&T to sign up with them. When I mention that I already have an account and they couldn't call me otherwise, they are befuddled. Did you update your information within the past few months? they ask. I talked to you yesterday, I say, remember? You liked my answering machine message?

My internet's not working either. Company says it never did, although I've used it for going on 2 years now. I have to use my father's account, which doesn't really bother me -- it's not like he ever uses it. (He has an ethernet connection.) But damnit! It did work; I didn't hallucinate that.

Oh, and I got a speeding ticket. Radar, of course. Showed me going 60 in a 45 mph zone. I'm taking it to court, of course, both because I'm overly litigious and because it's impossible that I could have been going that fast. Not and braked in time for the stoplight.

What the hell is going on?

Yeah, I figured it was you. Thought it was absoulutely brilliant, and the skull is a nice touch.

And I never said yes because I assumed my agreement was tacit. For who could refuse a proposal of Dee's?

love,
Romie

sincerely, sorry you've got all this nonsense going on. hope it can be resolved without the taking of an inordinate amount of human life.
