This is the balcony just outside my office; the furniture is courtesy of my grandmother, who was tired of cleaning it. Fingers crossed for lots of tomatoes again, and a hope I can actually spend time on the balcony. (It depends on mosquitoes. It always depends on mosquitoes.)

That looks so very inviting! Are you working outside a lot now?

Spring is half a month ahead, so it's really summer already.

We have mosquitoes too (in the city) and I have found that using the dunk things in watery places is helpful, but there is only so much to be done in the suburbs. I don't know if those fancy mosquito discouragers help. And something (birds, bats) eats mosquitoes, right?

May I suggest, as an experienced deck/balcony gardener, that you use bricks or little terracotta feet or something else to elevate the saucers & pots so that they are not sitting directly on the decking?
