How was it? I've been thinking about seeing it.

It's fun! We went with 2D, because you know how we are about 3D. It's an odd movie in many respects. The script is strange in ways I have trouble explaining. The leads are kind of wooden because their lines are clunky and I get the impression the director wasn't really comfortable with getting performances from actors. (He's previously directed only CG Pixar films.)

I sort of wish I hadn't known so much about the production troubles going in (they've been dissected and dissected in the industry press) because I was distracted every second by imagining how things would look if this had been done differently, or this - I couldn't turn off my filmmaker side and just be an audience member.

Anyway, it's a fun adventure movie kind of in the tradition of stuff like Jason and the Argonauts and The Mummy. I think you'd like it.

i want to see the movie more now (but not more than i want to see hunger games which will be my next theater movie) and i think i can turn off the filmmaker side of myself just enough (if the first 15 or so minutes are strong enough) to get invested.

Unfortunately, the first 15 minutes are probably the weakest. As soon as he gets to Mars, awesome.

Is it terrible that I've begun (like the rest of America) to think the theatrical experience is not usually worth it. Scratch that. It is terrible. I love the movies. Dammit.

It's worth it on a 2D matinee, definitely.

Also, am wanting to see Hunger Games. Also Mirror, Mirror. Also Men in Black 3. I'm liking the big summer movies this year.

Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman have me pretty well sewn up. Of course I will personally contribute about $300 to the Breaking Dawn part 2 box office in November. And Avengers has my panties in a bunch in the good and bad ways at the same time so. There's that. NOT interested in the Dark Knight Comes Again or whatever.

Oh man I'd forgotten about Dark Knight whatever and Prometheus. I'm going to be going to the movies like every weekend, geeze.

also, hopefully there are some movies to make this year/next year ... jeremy has written a feature script that is promising and a short script that is almost quite good that he is going to try to kickstarter right now and ... idk ... i know i'm about to lose a lot of my time and availability but ...

I REALLY WANT US TO SUCCEED AT LIFE AND/OR ART YO.

Esp. once I is in NYC, if you come up with something and need me for a weekend, well, you know. Duh.
