It's a Trap

One of those unambitious days that is very pleasant to live through. We slept late, had breakfast, did crosswords, and walked around in comfortable weather to look at the neighborhood's fall plantings and Halloween decorations. Then a trip to the grocery, and home to make Australian hamburgers (toppings include pickled beet, fried egg, grilled onion, spicy mustard, etc.) Then we watched Harmy's Despecialized Edition of Return of the Jedi (aka the real thing).

Mom and Dad are off in California scattering my grandfather Roy's ashes (he died a few years ago, but it took Nana time to decide where she wanted his ashes to go), and Scarlett's been working, so it's mostly been me and Ciro kicking it old school. Good to know we still enjoy each other's company when it's just us. Not that this is a surprise.

Having Star Wars - the real movies - back in my life after so long feels strange, mostly because the discontinuity is weird. It's as though they stopped making crayons for ten years and then went back to making crayons. It was neither a nostalgia trip nor "suddenly I am re-evaluating these movies since I have been to film school!" I pretty much remembered them exactly, and they were just like that. Like a favorite album or something.
