Woke up early to go to a matinee screening of The Muppet Movie at The Brattle, which Ciro hadn't seen since he was a kid and which I know every line of. It was nice to see his reactions to for-him-unexpected things like Richard Pryor cameos. A very enthusiastic audience which applauded the arrival of all key characters. Then hot chocolate at Burdick's. A pretty day. Otherwise napped, had a meeting with Shuang, worked on setting up a schedule for looping and then booked flights, and ate scallops and ice cream (not at the same time).

Watched the Game of Thrones TV premiere and had mixed feelings, which is also true of my reaction to the book, and for somewhat but not perfectly overlapping reasons. I hate the HBO original series ethos that says you can only go so many minutes an episode without showing naked tits. (I wish I were exaggerating, but this is actually a stated strategy by the head of programming.) I love tits as much as the next guy, but I'd give them up for five extra minutes of non-tit-based storyline. And, you know, female characters that aren't distorted to fit the needs of tit-baring. Although I admit I am hoping this strategy leads to a Boudica miniseries, and at least a TV-movie about storming the Bastille. (Yes, Marianne is an allegorical figure, but is HBO going to let that get in the way of boobs? Not hardly.)

I've just started re-watching Rome - Titus Pullo is my ill-advised brickshithouse husband.

Also enjoying the hell out of Game of Boobs thus far, although I did wonder how the actress playing Daenerys felt about her big break: "Hey extended family comprised of elder people, come watch lingering close ups of my most excellent breasts! And again! And here I am taking it from behind!"
