Went out in torrential rain to vote, then to Merlin's for what amounts to our goodbye party - Shadowrun and Chinese food. At Tong's House, employed my usual strategy of ordering whatever I'm least able to recognize, which in this case was "periwinkle meat." Eating it, I couldn't even tell whether it was animal or vegetable. It could have been fungus, or a root; it could have been soft cartillage. I looked it up this morning and can tell you now that it's a prehistoric marine gastropod mostly harvested in Scotland. It tastes nothing like escargot. It's worth a try. Chewy.

I will miss Merlin more than anyone after the move. He is one of my favorite people in the world, in a comforting way that doesn't translate well over distance. He's promised to visit. In the meantime, I will have to interrogate imaginary cyberpunk opponents by myself.

Unrelatedly, realized that I almost never use "little" to mean "small." "Little" in my vernacular means "vulnerable but worthy."

I feel unsettled and unanchored in time.
