rinueAlthough I'm skittish when making phone calls, it goes away if I call someone enough times to know exactly what to expect from them. And so I am not at all afraid to call the US government's Direct Loan Servicing line; it's about as tense (and as frequent) as putting the kettle on. And so I have confirmed for the tenth or twelfth time that the threatening mail I'm getting from them is not to be taken seriously. And this time, they managed to work out what the glitch was. Not to fix it, but enough to alert me. Their computer sends me mail every time they ask the IRS for information about me, and since they usually have to remind the IRS several times. . .
Since my Social Security Benefits statement arrived last week, this month should bring three or four more threatening letters for me to throw in the trash and ignore. I feel much better knowing that these letters actually deliver information to me, even if it's different information than in the text of the letters. It's like we're communicating in code.
Meant to relax yesterday, maybe work on the Unidentified Objects script, maybe do the laundry (good god, the laundry), but instead wound up at Tasnim's, starting to write the Presentation Skills course for blended multi-national corporations (complete with engineers and scientists). Ate a lot of soup. Chatted about family. Fielded a few calls and e-mails about Hayseeds. Came home late and made banana muffins. And then by god wrote some anonymous fanfiction, because it's been a long time since I've been virtuosic just for the hell of it, no pressure and no consequences, and my throat's been too fucked up to sing worth a damn.
Rex and his girl just split, and Rex is sure it isn't permanent and Ciro's sure it is and I am fervently without opinion or influence. Rex is holding up well, though, partly thanks to his current extreme diet which means no alcohol. God willing, Kinky's about to get Rex's book published, which would be a happy ending if ever I heard one.
I need to return a call from C.Blacker, something about a video.
