Today, I set out in search of empty containers: a hand soap dispenser for the bathroom and an empty spray bottle for misting plants. As it turns out, it was notably cheaper in both cases to buy bottles already full of soap and empty them. The absurdity is particularly pronounced since the expensive empty bottles looked likely to disincorporate upon first use. I guess they're thought of as frivolous enough that you can make them badly and charge a lot?

My basil, oregano, and rosemary are sitting happily in a south-facing sunny window and I am already obsessing over whether I have watered them too much or not enough. I have more leftover potting soil than I know what to do with. The bookshelves near the plants are repainted and will perhaps soon be reoganized; I'm never really content with my bookshelves. I am perhaps a bookshelf gardener. It occurs to me that plants may have been a mistake, since I clearly need fewer things to fuss over.

James, Ciro, and I met to begin the long process of making the romantic comedy feature. Coming and going, I listened to the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack, my favorite soundtrack of all time. (Roxy Music + Thom Yorke = the win. Lou Reed, T-Rex, and so forth are cake.)

Next weekend I have set aside for working out taxes and the ongoing process of student loan repayment, which I am trying so hard to make automatic and something that doesn't have to take up my brainspace. I am trying so hard.

Oh, you know, we figure we've been making shorts for long enough, and if you want to make a feature with no money, you have two options: horror or romantic comedy. And none of us really feels like doing horror, so we're trying to develop a romantic comedy. I've alluded to it before; I think there are some journal entries about it back in November or something. We took a break for the holidays (which includes Valentine's Day, because that's super busy for the store James manages), but we're back to working on it.
