For Valentine's Day, Ciro and I installed a new kitchen sink faucet, and I now have designs on an indoor herb garden. It makes me feel like the couple in Beetlejuice, which seems like a pleasant enough way to turn out. I also baked a chocolate cake; I've gotten back to baking simply through the expedient of keeping all-purpose flour on hand. I don't do anything elaborate, since the main thing I like about baking is "in these simple steps, I have transformed disparate elements into food!" ("simple" being key to the voila). Baking soda (NaHCO₃) is clearly magic fairy powder, and researching the science only makes me think so more firmly.
