Jefferson is not my favorite founding father; I'm an Adams man, prefer England to France, and dislike Jefferson both for where he stood on the States Rights issue and the dirty journalism he encouraged.
However, there is a scene in 1776 (the musical, which I like) in which John Adams is stalling for time so he can get the votes he needs, and he proposes writing a declaration of independence to vote on instead of voting just on independence, and when asked why this is necessary, he can't come up with an answer. Until Jefferson without even having to think about it says "to place before mankind the common sense of the subject, in terms so plain and firm as to command their assent." Which is how he ends up writing it.
I have to be Jefferson way too often on the internet. How is it I still have to persuade intelligent, educated liberals that graphically describing how you'd like to rape a woman who disagrees with you is in fact misogynist rather than a funny way to blow off steam? I mean if that's your kink, jack off in private, not all over my facebook.
