Fire and Bounty
Jun. 10th, 2010 03:14 pmThere was a minor fire* at work and we had to evacuate the building. Which was awkward because I was captioning a program in California! And had to just set down my headset and walk briskly out of the building until the fire department came. And my purse was down the hall at my desk. I am glad the building did not burn down; I am glad specifically that my purse did not.
It is a very exciting time of year to buy fruits and vegetables. You can get ears of corn for 50 cents or less, cucumbers for 30 cents, and 20 key limes for a dollar. I don't even know what to do with key limes, but I buy them anyway, which works out to lime juice on everything. (I am not a key lime pie person. It is one of the few pies I'm relatively meh about.) A pint of blueberries for a dollar! It is hard to keep my head in these situations.
* as in somebody burned popcorn or something
