The Federalist Papers

I'm not really happy to be back in Dallas. My best friend has moved to Albequerque (which I like, but which means we can't hang out every week anymore), and most everyone else is floating further into the exurbs, which wouldn't be so terrible if I could go such places without being accosted by fat white ugly old guys who can tell from my lack of a gimme cap that I'm an intellectual and sense (correctly) that I spend my every moment working to erode their power base. I'm a big fan of talking things through, but there's no point trying to find common ground with people who don't use their frontal lobes. For the most part, I can move between the shelters of home, my oh-so-civilized workplace, museums, and bars that import their beer, but sometimes I have to venture out to buy pencil lead, and that runs into trouble.

At least, safely back in my own multicultural/historical/urban/women's-sheltered neighborhood, I saw a "Selena forever" bumper sticker. Fight on, Selena fans.
