[Random plug: If you don't read
hipgunslinger's journal, well, more fool you. You absolutely must download the .avi on this entry.]
After several weeks, I seem to have finally transitioned out of Tyler Durden mode and into. . .
The Sundance Kid.
This is excellent. Sundance Kid may be my favorite mode of all time, although it might lose out to Ford Prefect or Han Solo.
The beauty of being Sundance, aside from knowing that you're a better gunslinger than anyone in the room, is that it forces whoever is with you to be Butch Cassidy. They really can't help it, even if they haven't made the connection that you're Sundance; it just kinda happens naturally. First the speech patterns change, then the physical attitudes. You are incredibly amused by this, but feel no need to tell them so, which just makes you all the more Sundance. Which makes them more Butch Cassidy. And since you are Sundance, you really enjoy hanging out with Butch Cassidy, and vice versa.
Also, you get to cheat at cards and smirk intensely.
Val is doing an admirable job at Butch. Admirable. She's already gone off on several long diatribes while simultaneously becoming more laid back than she's been in months. All in all, it's possible that Butch Cassidy is one of her favorite modes.
This puts the cap on what has already been a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Certainly, I have gotten no work done, despite the fact that I have to write four papers, but I have made full use of my restored computer. Sure, Hole in the Wall contains neither food nor much in the way of clean underclothes, but it's a warm day, and there's Mexican beer in the icebox.
