Part 1: Multiple Choice

Romie, having just returned from a three-month absence, is making soup. She is alone in the apartment. When she opens the cabinet to get a bowl, she discovers that three quarters of the dishes are missing. Puzzled, she checks the freezer, the bedroom closet, and the medicine cabinet. She concludes that the dishes are not in the apartment. She wonders where Ciro has moved them, and why.

What does this story best illustrate?

a) Romie has not had a dishwasher for the past six years.
b) Ciro uses eccentric organization systems.
c) Porcelain is becoming sentient.

Part 2: Short Essay

Romie looks different in the US and UK. This is not a matter of clothing or hairstyle; her face changes shape at some point during the plane journey. She is recognizable in both countries. Facial expression does not play a role, nor does makeup. Explain. Photographic references will be accepted.

As to the answer to part 1, I vote for D. The dishes are scared and hiding!

You see, I would have just assumed they'd been broken and hidden. Like when my childhood cooking experiments would go wrong and I'd hide them under the stairs.

Part 2: it is obviously the light. You have complained before about the English light.
