I just got back from my second ever Scottish dance class, which was special and had haggis. I had never tried haggis before, and was pleasantly surprised; it's lovely. Like Jimmy Dean sausages with a lot of extra iron. I am told by many people that I danced excellent well and am a natural, but I take this with a grain of salt since I was head and shoulders the most attractive person present of either gender. Small waist + bouncing bosom + sparkly eyes and flushed cheeks = astounding grace.

I'm about a week away from filming, and I'm close to ready to go. I'm still short a location, and I need to meet an actor, but that's fairly typical at this stage. My lead actress tells me that my script is brilliant, which is, once again, not to be trusted given the source. I'm quite happy though, especially after a fruitful meeting with the art department. Romie + Production Designers = Love. I also heart producers, and spent most of the weekend hanging out with mine (Birgitta). You might assume from this that we got a lot of production business done, and certainly some of that happened, but mostly we girled out and ate guacamole and drank soda and watched Dirty Dancing. Gossip featured heavily.

The two week onslaught of rain finally stopped yesterday, so [livejournal.com profile] treehavn and I grabbed a cheap curry near Brick Lanes and then went on the Jack the Ripper walk with authority Donald Rumbelow. I highly recommend it - the attention to context and the lack of sensationalism are unrivaled by anything I've ever heard. It was also quite a shock to see the Tower of London again in person - to look over and see it looking back at me. It's been so many years - seventeen? - during which I've read so much more of the history that takes place there. One of the most staggering things about London (and cities like London, and Rome, and Paris) is the range of the architecture - a Roman wall next to a Medieval tower next to a Victorian warehouse next to a '70s garage.
