One of the troubles with London's status as an immigrant city is that the English instinctively walk on the left and everyone else doesn't; when two people meet on the sidewalk, there's no obvious rule of "pass on the right" or "pass on the left." Instead, both parties must execute a little sidewalk dance. This dance repeats a few steps down the road, with another partner.

True; but it happens to me a heck of a lot more often here, and takes longer to sort out.
