Augh. I'm sorry that I've disappeared almost entirely from livejournal. It's not that I don't have stuff to write about - I just wind up using it in different media. There's Film Club, for instance, and Ochen Chotto Spiel. One of my articles for this month's Reflection's Edge is extensive enough that, were it fiction, it would count as a novella. (Speaking of which, if you haven't subscribed to Reflection's Edge yet, please do. It doesn't cost you anything, and it makes us feel good. All we do is e-mail you once a month to say "hey, we updated the site!")
I have no idea what's in store for this year. I'm thinking of sticking around Dallas. I'm thinking of moving to Australia or South Africa. I'm thinking about getting an MFA in Creative Writing because over the past year I've been offered several proffesorial positions that I couldn't take because I didn't have the necessary degree to satisfy the colleges' charters. I hate academia and I've never wanted to be a teacher, but I undeniably enjoy helping people get smarter. I'm also considering a return to Judaism. We'll see.
As far as resolutions go, I tend not to make them per year. I figure if something's worth doing, you take as long as you need to. Or as short. As a result, some of these are the same as five years ago, and others of them I expect to have done by about 3 o'clock.
1. Make or find some clothes that accurately represent the inner Romie, whatever the hell that means.
2. Get some stuff published that both pays really well and brings art and philosophy to a new level.
3. Start a movement which gives people something worthwhile to believe in.
4. Play more badminton.
5. Eat a poached egg on toast with lunch today.
6. Make a complete circuit of the world, Willy Fogg style. (No cars or airplanes.) Or at least visit South America, Antarctica, and Oceania so I can have been to all the continents.
7. Think up a way to deal with this mercury contamination of fish.
8. Beat the video game with the scary girls, even if they are so scary.
9. Find home.
