I sometimes think college has left me permanently brain damaged.

Even the limited time I've spent in academia has been a poison to my thought processes. I just spent several hours arguing with myself over whether art is a religion which only exists to give the artist a sense of purpose and importance, and that anti-establishment protests are merely the manifestations of a religious war. Poor Patrick can't rant properly because halfway through he starts arguing the other side in order to show his sensitivity to dissenting viewpoints. My writing has taken on a terrible amount of filler and jargon targeted at extending wordcounts and demonstrating my familiarity with "high" language; after all, any argument is merely opinion, so one must rely on obvious superiority and expertise instead of clear and elegant logic.

Some things are true. Not all viewpoints are equal. Language should be clear and approachable. Just because a comparison can be made, and made cleverly, does not mean it is a valid one.

Maybe my new purpose in life should be to go around lecturing at high schools, convincing the students to avoid university education at all costs. We'll start a movement, and possibly our own country, where we will use coconuts as currency and elect Terry Gilliam to high office. The official sport will be staple-pulling, closely followed by stapling things together to be pulled apart later.

As such will staple removers be outlawed, possibly creating an underground movement of seedy smugglers and blockade runners bent on delivering illicit staple removers to those who have developed no proficiency with the art of staple removal, thus allowing you a shifty criminal element amongst whom to carouse, drink straight whiskey, and consort with lose women, all in spite of your presitigious position within the higher echelons of government?

Devious.
