A damp rag and baking soda will remove tea stains from china.

If a candle is overly smoky, the wick is in need of a trim.

Pearls and opals dissolve in water; other jewelry may safely be worn while bathing.

I know a great many useful things that make the small tasks of life more pleasant; how useless they all are to the people I would help. My friends are in pain, but my hands are empty.

that's what happened to us when some critter chewed through our phone line. People calling us would say they let the phone ring for 10 minutes or more, and it would never ring in our house.

Granted, this only helps if you're using a land line.

Well... In our case, it wasn't a critter... at least not the four-legged kind. The phone company "updated their computers" and "oops!".

Needless to say I wasn't thrilled. But they did make up for it by sending out an amazingly cute repairman.

And the phone is back on, now. So on to more pressing drama. LOL
