barn owns and jim henson... have you perhaps seen the film 'labyrinth'? you might enjoy it; it's entertaining (as much as staring at a television for 2 hours can be) and features a dream tempter prince who also favours the form of a barn owl. at any rate, i found this through blood&altars, but i've just come to read and enjoy. not only do you write fascinating fiction, but happen to be quite inspiring yourself. i will be lurking around reading.
i think lucifer is a beautiful name, for a boy or a girl. i'd just worry people would shorten it to lucy, which would make me irritable. you know, though, i wish lucius sounded better spoken aloud, because it looks deceptively lovely in print.
