Delightful Inconsistent

I think you'll notice that the entire "films I liked" list is non-franchise speculative fiction. (Mad Max, if you're curious, is not a franchise even though it's a sequel; they've all been written and directed by the same person, George Miller, and he's clearly more interested in telling crazy stories than in brand protection/extension.) I had problems with all of them and didn't love any of them. But I'd rather a Jupiter Ascending get made than more Marvel nonsense or infinite play-it-safe Star Wars. This shouldn't come as a surprise to you.
