That's awesome. I know my mom made some good friends through a mothers' group when I was born, and also that she really appreciated just having people she could check in with and say "is this normal?" about stuff she was going through for the first time. I'm all about mom solidarity.
But yeah, there's definitely a lot of concern about the "right" way to parent. Maybe there always is. I don't think it's necessarily bad unless it becomes a keeping up with the Joneses problem - "I hate planning birthday parties but everyone else spent three months planning their kids' birthday parties and they'll think I'm a horrible parent."
