Slept on the daybed in my office; Ciro hasn't slept for a couple of nights thanks to the chest/head cold, and we hoped the extra space for tossing and turning would help. I am awake and he is still asleep, so success?

Called Rex to help him work on his cover letter to send around to agents. Talked to Max also, who is repairing the floor of the Clinton House bathroom and planning to bike up this summer.

Waiting on the download/export of the first edit of Hayseeds. Have made some progress on writing a song and realized for the first time that I rarely use verse-chorus structure, even in my humorous songs. 30% of the time at most. Yet one of the songs I admire most for tight writing is "She's a Woman" by the Beatles, which is whiplash verse-chorus (arguably verse-counterverse or chorus-counterchorus). Yet another example of the gap between the things I admire and the things I excel at. On the other hand, I like "You Never Give Me Your Money" more than "She's a Woman" (which I admire more), so there's that.

Have been writing unattached bits of Digby, as I usually do this time of year, the time of year when I remember to do that, but am somewhat hampered by my temperamental laptop. In a house with so many computers, it seems silly to buy another, especially when I'd rather pay down student loans, but I don't like typing on any of the other laptops/netbooks/desktops/smartphones. It's like having to write with a pen that's too short.
