My immune system has decided to give up, seemingly. Aside from the intestinal trouble (which is clearing up), I picked up some kind of infection I have to go to the doctor about Thursday, and I woke up this morning with a pinched nerve. Forget learning to do a handstand: I am clearly not going to be able to leave the house or get out of a chair soon.

To a certain extent, I'm kvetching about relatively minor problems that will probably clear up quickly, but what frustrates me about the whole thing is that these are clearly stress related, but they're all happening months after I was stressed out, but not immediately after, and are hitting just when I'm finally starting to come out from under depression. So what gives, immune system? Apparently, my psychology is reverse psychology.

I am far enough in the unpacking process now that I was able to roll out my area rug and hang most of the art on the walls. Still a few pieces to go, plus files reorganization and repairing some furniture that was damaged in transit (but not really solid before transit), but the art and rug were the big step and now I feel like this is a place where I live.

You're in a classic arc, then: I can't count the number of times one of us has experienced something---work or personal---excessively stressful, apparently sailed through and met the deadline or coped with no ill effect, and then come down with everything infectious and a sprain once the stressful period is over. Quite often, the backlash hits on vacation.

Think of it as hidden damage becoming apparent, like metal fatigue. I don't have any advice for dealing with it---maybe paying particular attention to good nutrition and getting as much sleep as possible to support your body's recovery would help?

Seconded. Happens to me all the time.

Just try to take care of yourself and think of it as a multi-month recovery process.
