In London, where it is cold, the hostel's hot water is not working, my laundry doesn't dry properly, a strange foreign man keeps trying to barricade all the women out of the women's bathroom, and I am averaging five hours sleep a night despite heroic attempts otherwise. Have found cheap source of coffee and am spending my waking zombie time playing a computer game where I shoot infinite tanks with cannon. Have once again been snubbed by my school and therefore do not intend to affiliate with them past this Tuesday. Am glad to be back in the land of British food, which I love with all my small cold heart. Thanks to various museums, I now have all sorts of schemes for clothing and embroidery which I intend to foist on Ciro.

This has been putting me straight to sleep lately, but I feel kinda weak offering it up since you're already trying things and the ocean problem means I'm in no position to actually make you a cup of tea or even sensibly send you some packets to try (assuming you haven't).

Pleh. I'm sorry about the sleep trouble and lack of hot water. But glad to hear there are schemes.

I appreciate it anyway. I'll be back in the States in a couple of days and at that time I will probably have a better bed, more quiet, and the opportunity to track down this tea which sounds brilliant. In the meantime, I am compensating with loads of coffee, which is all right because I like coffee.

What's this about snubbing?

Enquiring minds want to know?

(Also, send London my love. Kiss some pubs for me, or something. Give the British Museum and V&A a hug.)

I most certainly did, and the V&A has now opened the bit that was being renovated forever (the European medieval section) and that was lovely. I am now back in Boston and missing pubs and cider of course.

In terms of the snub, it's just the nasty bullshit that's been normal this term and which came out of nowhere, where the school kind of forgets that I specifically exist and then get really catty when I remind them that I do. They screened my film when I wasn't there, despite the fact that I flew across an ocean in order to be there, and their explanation was that "oh sorry they didn't realize I was coming" to which my response is "here are several e-mails in your own words in which you specifically put off doing things I asked you to do on the grounds that you would do them when you saw me on this date."

And then the criticism given of my film, which I wasn't present for, amounted in its entirety to "we don't feel we're the best audience for this film and don't have anything to say about it." Which may be totally honest (although to call my film avant garde when every technique in it is at least 30 years old is a bit weird), but which makes me think "hey, all right. Give me 3000 pounds, then, since that is what I paid specifically toward your salaries, not including what I put into the film or flying over here, and you did not spend even 15 minutes doing your job and have agreed that you're not competent."

I had a nice time at the actual graduation, and it was good to see other people and their films, and Samantha Morton was there which is nice because I like her. It makes it all difficult because I'm proud of the work I've done and I think the school overall educated me fairly well, but at the same time I don't want to give any further support to a select number of people who I feel should be fired violently.
