The Things You Don't Expect
Jul. 9th, 2014 10:14 pmWhen my parents moved to this house 16(? 17?) years ago, with it came a partially-used bulk roll of saran wrap of who knows how many feet originally, in a closed box so it was impossible to see how much there was left. My guess is the original roll was around the dimensions of a roll of paper towels. All I know is, there was a box with a sheet of saran wrap coming out of it, and if I pulled I got more saran wrap. The irony of pulling a flexible, transparent material out of a fully occluded (yet resolutly ordinary) container never diminished in its appeal.
After 16 (17?) years of steady use, we today reached the end of the roll. Infinite saran wrap revealed its finity.
Another star has joined the heavens. A totally transparent one. I will ask my astrophysicist friend Brian to look for it.
