Dreamed I was in the hospital. Nothing wrong with me, particularly; being admitted to the hospital chiefly meant being assigned a bed and having to wear hospital pajamas. Assumed I would be discharged once the doctors came around, but it was a Saturday. Had an annoying roommate and was bored so mostly was not in my room.

The hospital maternity ward was very proud of having "the new thing," which was Cold Rooms. These were described to me as saunas, except cold instead of hot. In other words, glamorized meat lockers with benches. Women would sit in them in groups, their newborns cradled to their chests, talking about how refreshed they felt and how they could feel themselves healing faster. Nobody said toxins; I think the theory instead was to do with swelling, along the lines of icing a sprain, as well as something a bit more mumbo-jumbo to do with metabolic shifts. The science was enough to seem plausible to me, but also unlikely and unsubstantiated. I concluded the Cold Rooms were an irritating form of conspicuous/compelled consumption, visited for status rather than medical efficacy. I was very disdainful to the nurses.

Dream almost certainly arose from the article I'm writing about the missing children of cryonics, combined with reading a piece on colloidal silver yesterday evening.
