Musca domestica
Aug. 19th, 2012 08:27 pmThe house has been invaded by houseflies, which happens every year about this time. At least this time it makes sense; we're replacing the front door and cutting a new side door, so there are gaping holes in the house during construction hours. Past years, there have not been holes, and we're not sure how the flies showed up.
The flies are sluggish, presumably from the heat (says Dad, although files are fast in Texas, which is hotter). I can and do grab them out of the air with my fingers, like an action hero. Sometimes they land and I tap their backs and they don't move, except maybe to stumble sideways.
