Visited my friend Sylvana today for candied Japanese almonds and Sambucca. She is recovering from a broken hip, which is the sort of thing that is frighteningly fatal, but she does seem to be genuinely recovering. Much gossip and talk about food, as usual.

Back at work for the first full day after my own medically-motivated absence. It felt pleasantly normal.

Found out Ed and Ash will be able to visit for New Year's - a nice surprise!
