I've been posting very little not because I'm sick or sad but because I'm extremely busy, which will probably continue to be true for the near future. Trying to work full time as a captioner plus finish a feature film plus finish a music video plus edit a novella for a small press does not leave very much time for even simple things like taking walks or baths, particularly since I'm not someone who can cut back on sleep without immediate costs. I rest at breakfast and at diner, and occasionally watch an hour of television when I'm too tired to do anything else. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have a reasonably large group of people cooking for me and running basic pharmacy, post office, and grocery errands. Worst case scenario, I think I can keep up this pace for another two years without permanent negative effects on my personality, but I think that's pretty much my buyout.

Main events of the past few weeks:

1. More major dental work for Ciro, who now has two less teeth, and they're important chewing ones. In three months, implantation of replacement teeth which will be specially individually sculpted by the dentist! (Time between surgeries is necessary for the jawbone/gum to stabilize.)

2. Replacement of the toilet in the purple bathroom, which in 12 years hasn't ever worked well and which was so old that replacement parts were unobtainable. At first it just ran all the time unless you had a very specific handle-jiggle technique, plus it used a huge amount of water with every flush. For the last several months, the handle has not functioned at all and it has been necessary to take the lid off, pull up the mechanism with your hand until the tank drains, and then push it back down afterward. Which in some ways was an improvement over the jiggle, in that it stopped less expert people trying to use that bathroom and flooding things.

Given that it was $100 to replace the toilet, it's fairly absurd that this replacement took so long, but of course there were grand plans to renovate the whole bathroom (which has basically no redeeming characteristics, aside from a pretty good radiator) and a lot of "oh, but if we're re-tiling the floor we should do that first!" etc, etc, until I was pretty much not willing to be reasonable about it anymore and started bringing it up in every single conversation with my parents. Who then did replace it, which is nice, since all I was saying was "let me replace it." There are still plans to renovate the rest of the bathroom.

3. My hair is currently midway between Louise Brooks and Clara Bow. As are my eyebrows, really, except not drawn on. Since today is the anniversary of the publication of Gatsby, feeling appropriate.

4. Yesterday, Ciro made cookies that taste exactly like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
