My head is full of snot and it's making my ears hurt.
The film I camera operated was shown today, and it's pretty good for what it is. (This is the first time I've seen the final cut, or heard the score.) It has the same strengths and weaknesses I thought it had while I was shooting it, which is reassuring. My camera choices were highly complimented; there are a few shots I would rather looked slightly different, but every choice I fought for turned out to be right. Mostly, there's one shot I like very much, and which I think the editor picked up on, because the way she cut it into the next shot makes it look like the people are falling up.
I'm getting cranky in my old age, because I wasn't wowed by any of the second term films. (The second term is the National Gallery projects. And I'm lying a little because there was one which pretty much blew me away.) They weren't bad, but they weren't amazing. Cranky's the wrong word for it, I suppose. I've just noticed that with film and writing, I'm less and less willing to say something's awful, because normally I assume I haven't understood it, and can see that it might simply not be to my taste. Only I'm also less willing to say something's great. (Some things are, though, and I'm more and more confident they are.) Maybe I'm just harder to manipulate with style.
