Since I know that a few of you have connections in the "hacker" community, I was wondering if one of you could help me out. I've been getting an annoying bit of spam for the past few weeks. It looks almost exactly like this, including the odd string of random letters at the end, and does not contain an unsubscribe option. Normally, in a case like this, I would follow the money and then threaten legal action against whomever was providing it. Problem is . . . there's no money I can find. I've tried tracing Westmeria, but there's nobody there - not to mention that the company is supposedly English but the web address doesn't end in .co.uk. True Health Inc is flat out invisible online, except those mysterious stock quotes.

You know, most people would probably let this go and just delete the e-mails when they appear. Really competent and determined people would write an e-mail filter that recognized and deleted it without their awareness of its arrival.

I am not those people.

I take spam personally. Some [many - ed.] would say too personally. But, damn it! It's my inbox! I did not give these people permission to make money by occupying my property! More to the point, I know that anybody who is spamming me is all too glad to sell my e-mail to other spammers if I don't take it back from them. It's like the one cockroach you see. This spam in particular frustrates me because I can't make sense of it. Who would send it? Why? And why to me? There's no clear money in it - it's encouraging me to invest in some stock . . . which wouldn't raise the stock price unless I had a lot of cash to throw around. And if I did . . . come on. I wouldn't have a free e-mail address I got from a comic book company.

So, here's what I want. Unless somebody has a better suggestion, I want to trace the ISP of whoever is sending the e-mails. Then, depending on what is easier, I want to erase their hard drive (thus expunging all records of my address,) or I want to find their physical address so that I can frighten them with legal papers and/or the better business bureau. Hell; if they're close enough, I'll go out there in person.

Then I'll erase their hard drive.

So, can anybody hook me up? The e-mails are coming through Yahoo!; the addresses are the usual random combinations of numbers and letters. Anybody? Ciro?
