[Family night. Everyone is sitting in the booth, eating salmon and yelling a conversation over the sound of terrible music videos playing in the background. Abruptly, Stretch gets up and turns off the TV instead of simply changing the channel. She is very self-satisfied.]

Stretch: Isn't that better? Ahhh, silence.

[We are horrified. All conversation cuts off. Max begins visibly wilting, and is forced to hold a ticking watch to his ear to fight off the lack of background noise.]

[Silence.]

[Silence.]

Romie: Cool stopwatch. Very old school. Swipe it from Jackson?

Max: Yeah, I've been timing things all day.

Romie: What was fastest?

Max: I don't know, but the slowest was Mom picking out an apple. Three minutes and seventeen seconds.

Scarlett: I bet she loved the fact that you were standing there with a stopwatch.

Max: I timed her throughout the grocery store. The apple deliberation was the longest, although pancake mix took a good minute and a half.

[Silence.]

[Silence.]

Max: It's been six minutes since the TV went off, and Stretch has been chewing for four of them.

[Silence.]

[Silence.]

Romie: So, are we done here?

Stretch: I could show you how I wash the dishes!

Romie: Right. Leaving now.

[Exits.]
