First Fox of England
Sep. 18th, 2006 01:04 amI saw a fox today! I don't think he was a terribly important one, in terms of fox hierarchy - not as impressive, for instance, as me, which he seemed to recognize. He was long and lean, with a sandy coat and black elbow gloves. A narrow tail. Emily spotted him; when I walk, I still focus on the road ahead of me, as though I'm driving a car. When she pointed him out, the fox immediately loped toward the back yard of the house he was casing. I think if he could have, he would have whisled unconcernedly to indicate that, no, his walking away had nothing to do with us - why would we think that? Emily tried her great and terrible fox call, but to no avail. A little girl looked out the window, and I waved to her. She waved back.
