Sick AGAIN

Here's a fun test: place your fingertips against your neck. Are they cold or hot? If they're hot, it means you're very relaxed; cold, and you're stressed out. This is the science behind the mood ring, arguably the coolest thing to come out of the 60s.

In 1967, Holmes and Rahe worked out a list of life events and their comparative stress levels. Death of a spouse - 100 points. Marriage - 50 points. Speeding ticket - 11 points. Sexual difficulties - 39 points. Holmes and Rahe were psychologists interested in the mind-body connection as it pertains to health; higher levels of tension, they posited, lead to a higher risk of illness. How much stress, they wanted to know, is healthy? At what accumulation of stress points, gained over the course of a year, (revised from Homes and Rahe's original six months,) is a person at severe risk for infection?

The breaking point, they found, was about 300. People with over 300 stress points face a significantly higher rate and severity of illness. 300 represents a dangerously high stress level.

By slightly conservative estimates, my life-stress rating is 687, and my hands feel like blocks of ice. Being a connoiseur of mental illness, I have to say this stress thing ranks about even with Spam.

Funny you should mention - we went to a hockey game Sunday night, Stars vs. Penguins. Patrick and I rooted for the Penguins (who lost), thus winning the enmity of the crowd, because we were like "this one's for *Chad*." Go Penguins.

by the way we'd like to come by tonight to drop off your chairs. Will call momentarily.

love,
Romie

Is there something happening I don't know about?

Don't worry. Please. Can I help?

Don't stress. Realize most of wahtever it is probably doesn't matter. If it does matter, give me their names, and I will beat them up until they don't matter, either. *chipper grin*

I'm sorry. I'm pissed today but at least not miserable. I love you. Tell me if I can help.

It's nothing in specific, I promise - that's my point. There's not actually anything I can do to not be stressed as it is no one event but an accumulation of life events which are not neccessarily bad. Seriously. Look up the Holmes and Rahe test online. It would be like me living in a war zone and trying to calm down. This is just an explanation of why I keep on being so damn sick, and that the only thing that's going to make it go away is time and some degree of stability.
