Made Milk

Our milk is delivered in heavy glass jugs without handles, and from day one it's seemed inevitable to me that one is going to get dropped. Today is the first humid day of the year, and sure enough it slid out of Ciro's careful two-handed grip and fell four inches to the counter, where it was heavy enough that the force of impact sent shattered glass into Ciro and milk all over the kitchen. Ciro is bandaged but the kitchen still smells of milk after several moppings.

I hate bad design. People assume that's the artist part of me, but it's the engineer.

Back In The Day when my family got glass bottles in the silver cooler outside the front door, Hood offered customers plastic holder thingies with a handle to prevent exactly that from happening. (I recall seeing them for milk cartons, later, too.)

Here's a metal version on eBay.
