Astronomical

Ciro and I walked out onto the snow at 3:30 to look for the lunar eclipse, but it being snowy, the firmament was naught but cloud. There was a red-brown glow where we believe the moon was hidden. It was beautiful. Indoors, I stood between Ciro and various light sources, and we agreed this was less than impressive.

Bought a closet mirror and some mint-covered malt balls. Good news from Rex - our friend Alex is ops manager of the Dallas Film Festival this year. Finished wrapping presents for Ciro, "for" meaning "in place of." I am the partner with origami experience. I've been pretty unelaborate this year - your basic enrobing of each gift in wrapping paper with a ribbon tied around. No cut outs or interlacing or three dimensional elements (besides the bow), no illuminated tags. I think it's because nobody else has wrapped anything so far, so I don't feel much need to step up my game.

Today is not just the solstice and a lunar eclipse, but the shortest day in 372 years.
