Most definitely. Although that didn't exactly work out - look at Harper's Ferry, or, by some perspectives, the US Civil War, or the David Koresh cult in Waco. Just having guns isn't enough to overthrow the government.

Incidentally, I am absurdly excited about some of the stuff DARPA's up to. Man, those guys come up with cool technologies.
